Getting The Most Out Of Your Auction

No matter what you might have to sell, doing it through an eBay auction can be a fun, fairly easy, and profitable way to sell merchandise once or for a "second job". Online auctions have become a popular way for people to find unique merchandise, such as old books and toys, or hard to find clothing and furniture. You can buy just about anything through an eBay auction! Instead of trying to hassle with a garage sale, try selling your merchandise on eBay. You might find that you can earn quite a good living at it!

Though it is an easy way to unload your stuff, there are a few techniques involved with having a successful eBay auction. Simply posting a picture and a price will not bring the bidders to you. Make sure the merchandise you are selling is in excellent condition, and if it is not, say so in the description. Honesty is by far the number one rule of thumb to follow, because deceiving customers can get you negative ratings, which will spell doom for you if you intend to auction a lot of merchandise on eBay. It is also important to be knowledgeable of what your are selling, not only so that you can create a thorough description of your product, but so that you can answer any questions that potential customers might have quickly.

In addition to being forthright regarding the condition of your merchandise, you must be up-front when you explain your sales and shipping policy on your eBay auction. Providing complete information about your shipping rates, as well as your refund policy, will help make sales go smoothly, and customers appreciate that. Gaining repeat customers is important if you want to have continued success with your eBay auctions. So, on top of offering complete information, you will want to provide excellent customer service to your customers. Respond to questions quickly, and with a friendly tone.

Once you have made a sale on your eBay auction, it is important to maintain the same friendly and professional rapport with your customers. Remember that repeat customers and good reviews can make your eBay career successful! It is important that you inform your customers of the progress of their purchases every step of the way. First, contact them to thank them for making the purchase, including any payment information. Then contact them to let them know that you have shipped the merchandise, how it shipped, and when you expect it you arrive to them. You might also want to include any tracking numbers so that your customers can see when their packages are due to arrive to them.

It is vital that you conduct your eBay auctions and business transactions with the utmost professionalism. In addition to honesty and communication, that means that you should wrap and ship any merchandise that you sell in a way that it will not be damaged, and that it will show that care was taken in the preparation for shipment. Include a "receipt" that shows what the customer purchased, the price paid, and even include a thank you note, which is always a nice touch. Again, customer satisfaction and feedback can make or break your eBay auction experience and seller reputation.

Customer feedback and ratings on an eBay auction can mean that either you will be a highly sought after seller, or that no one will want your stuff at all. Take those ratings seriously, because the buyers on eBay certainly do! That is why it is so important to work to satisfy every customer, even the difficult or demanding ones. If that means negotiating the price of certain merchandise, or doing something else a little extra for a customer, then you need to do it. If you want to turn your eBay auction into a successful business endeavor, your pride might have to take a back seat. Try to remember that the buyer is taking just as big (if not bigger) of a chance as you are in shopping for merchandise on an eBay auction. Therefore, the easier you make it for them, the more often they are likely to be your customer.

How to Find The Hottest Selling Items on Ebay

There is no denying that eBay, love it or hate it, is one of the best known websites on the internet. Operating in over 33 international countries, it offers one of the, if not THE, widest choice of online shopping.

Yet with so many items to choose from one of the biggest and growing problems for eBay sellers is;

"What do I sell"?

There are currently 3 million items for sale at any one time on eBay so no wonder people ask themselves this question. It's a competitive market place for sellers who strive to find the hottest selling items in an attempt to profit from selling them.

But with millions of sellers around the world, how do you hunt down the hottest selling items on eBay?

Well, if you have a specific interest in a field then you can benefit from your knowledge already. You already have an interest in a specific field so you have a head start on your market place. You should already know where to buy these items knowing their value on eBay.

But what happens if you want to move in to a different field or you don't have an interest in a specific field?

You need to find a way of finding items that are in demand on eBay, items that are selling fast for a good price. But this is easier said than done.......... until now...........

How much time do you think you'd be able to save if you could use a tool that shows you items on eBay that have a number of bids higher than 25?

How easy would you be able to find hot selling items if you could choose a category, select how many bids you consider it must have to be classed as a hot selling item and all of this in real time, NOT some data that is a couple of months old, not even a few weeks old!!!

Imagine being able to generate the top 200 popular products divided in to separate top product categories for both eBay.com and eBay.co.uk !!!

Ever wondered what the top watched items are on eBay ? Find out instantly and in real time. From this list you will be able to see which items are generating the most interest even if they haven't got any bids on them.

Apart from asking yourself, imagine having the ANSWERS to the following questions:

How do I find my niche?

How do I sign-up for an eBay™ account?

Where do I list my item?

What words should I put in my auction title?

What are the best words or phrases to put in my auction description to make people buy now?

What categories have the most listings?

And imagine being able to tap in to this information 24 hours a day, viewed in your web browser and all in real time?

Maybe you can see the potential of having a tool that does all of this at your finger tips?

If you think it's impossible for one single tool to be able to do all of this and MORE then think again.

My friend David Guindon has released his incredible Hot Item Finder software which will simply blow your mind when you see all of it's incredible features. I haven't even scratched the service of the things that this "rocket in your tool box" can do.

I strongly suggest you delve deeper in to Hot Item Finders capabilities for yourself to see exactly why I fell off my chair when I saw what David had produced.

I promise you one thing here and now, you will be astounded by the features of Hot Item Finder but even more surprising is the price David is letting this MUST HAVE software for........... In fact it's such an incredible price right now, that I'm sure David will very soon realise that he's priced it far too low and, quite rightly, raise the price to reflect it's true value.

Find out for yourself before your too late and get right on over to David's site and I'll save you some more time, here's the link for David's site because I'd hate to think you didn't get their in time before he raises the price.

5 Must Do's Before Selling On Ebay

Many people make a full-time living on eBay. This is not only possible but it is also quite easy once you know what you are doing. Some people just make a little extra money through eBay auctions simply because it is fun – it becomes a hobby.

Whether you just want to sell some old items lying about your house, or you want to build a business by becoming a PowerSeller, there are five things you absolutely must do before you can start selling on eBay.

1. You must Register. Begin by registering as a member of eBay.

This registration is free, and it will allow you to participate in auctions – as a buyer. As soon as you have completed your registration as a buyer, you can register as a seller simply by logging into your eBay account and clicking on the 'Sell' tab at the top of the page. The information that you will enter is very basic information, but as a buyer, you will need to enter a credit card number, or sign up for a paypal account.

2. Sign up with paypal.

Paypal has become one of the most popular payment gateways on the Internet. This website allows people to transfer money from their bank accounts or credit cards, and to transfer money from one Paypal account to another. Signing up is quite easy, but you will need to verify your account with a checking account, and you can optionally add a credit card to the account. Paypal is very secure. As long as you don't give your password out to anyone, you shouldn't have any problems.

Paypal is not required to sign up with eBay, but it is highly recommended. This will allow you to give your buyers more payment options. Signing up with Paypal is free.

3. Find items to sell. You may already have items that you want to sell.

For instance, if you have recently cleaned out your attic or your garage, you probably have tons of stuff that you want to get rid of. Some items won't sell well on eBay, while others will sell like hot cakes! So a little research to see what sells well before you set up any auctions.

You can also find items to auction by going to yard sales around your area.

Many eBay PowerSellers sell brand new items through drop shipping companies as well. It is all just a matter of determining how you want to profit from eBay, and what items are hot sellers.

4. Set up your auction. Once you are signed up, and you are ready to set up your auction, eBay has a form for you to fill out.

Here, you will determine how you are going to sell the product. You can choose to sell a group of items, or just one item. You will have a list of categories to choose from, and these categories determine where your item is listed on eBay. Choosing the proper category for your item is essential – this is how people will find your auction.

You must choose a title for your auction. You want to use your title to catch the buyer's eye. Coming up with a great title isn't always easy, and it does require some thought. Look at some past successful auctions to get some ideas. Make sure that you follow eBay's guidelines for titles!

Make sure that you use the form to add as much information about your item as possible.

The more information you can include, the more successful your auction will be.

Look at the history of past auctions for items similar to yours. This information will help you determine your title, your description, and even your reserve price. The reserve price is the absolute minimum bid amount that you are willing to accept.

You will be allowed to include pictures of your items, and it is very important that you do so.

Make sure that the pictures are clear, and take several different shots from different angles. Pictures will help make your bid more successful. Many bidders won't even look at auctions that do not include pictures.

You will also need to determine how long your auction will run. Don't make the auction too short – give bidders time to find your item and place their bids – but at the same time, don't make it too long. Force bidders to act by getting their bids in before the auction closes!

eBay has many upgrade options that will make your auction more noticeable.

Depending on the reserve price of your item, it may be well worth it to take advantage of these upgrades to get your auction noticed more easily.

5. Communicate with your bidders.

Make sure that you monitor your auction, and keep the lines of communication with your bidders open. Bidders will have questions about the item you are selling. Make sure that you respond to the questions and comments in a timely manner.

Think of yourself as a shop keeper, and reply to the bidders just as you would to a customer who was standing in your shop!

Getting Out of The Rat Race With Ebay

What is it about running a business that fears many people - is it the initial start up cost, is it not knowing the business basics or is it the thought of the financial freedom that comes with it because that is exactly what you get after involving yourself with the Ebay Business Opportunity. Financial freedom is there for the taking if you want it.

Two of the fear factors mentioned above are partially behind why people choose to ignore the Ebay Business Opportunity. Not knowing how to run a business and worry about start up costs can be put to the back of your mind right now if you crave financial freedom. This is definitely a win win situation if you want it to be.

There are no large amounts of money to hand over to start up and as for knowledge - well you learn as you go along. This is exactly how other Ebay entrepreneurs began and are still reaping in the rewards
The Ebay Business Opportunity is not just for the hungry who have decided enough is enough and wants out of the rat race - it is also a second income for many people on a budget.

Remember the Ebay Business Opportunity is a risk free venture so what are you waiting for - all that is required from you is sheer determination and a little time. Any knowledge on how to run your Ebay business can be found through the Ebay support system or from fellow Ebayers. Beginners gather information by visiting the forums. You will find many Ebay entrepreneurs willing to share what they know with you but remember if you are competition for them then you may not get the help you need. The internet is larger than life so what you need to know can be found elsewhere online.

If you are new to the Ebay Business Opportunity and money is your biggest worry then fret not - have a trial run selling second hand goods that you may have stored in the loft, attic or garage. What you see as trash will bring in cash. So before you go discarding any old items for the refuse man think on how it may be of use to someone else.

The cost to list items on Ebay can vary thus depending on the size of the item you are selling - for example if it be a car then expect to pay more than that of a salt and pepper set. Your dummy run at selling for the first time can include book sales even an e-book on a hobby of yours - the list is endless as to what you can sell. The Ebay Business Opportunity will have restrictions and guidelines on certain articles or items they allow to be sold on the auctions - as in i.e. offensive materials etc.

What other business besides the Ebay Business Opportunity gives you the chance to change the way you live without taking away your second income if you are already holding down a couple of jobs to make ends meet.

How to Outsell Other Ebay Resellers

How would you like to have your car payment or mortgage paid for? Or perhaps you would like to quit your job and work part time from the comfort of your home?

Whatever your dreams are, selling ebooks and software with resell or master resell rights can help make them a reality! But what if you are not a savvy internet marketer? Well, eBay is an easy and great place to start. It is also a great source of supplemental income even for seasoned resell rights marketers.

But, with increased competition on eBay among ebook resellers, an effective strategy is a must have to continue to grow your ebook business effectively. Don’t ever let the seemingly low prices and the thought of resell rights saturation discourage you from reaping large financial rewards. I have been selling ebooks and software on eBay for 3 years now and have developed and refined 7 tried and true tactics that will allow you to resale ebooks for up to 10 times the price of your competition.

The secret is in the listing title! Below are 7 ways to maximize your traffic, conversion and profit using smart listing strategies.

1. Keyword Rich Listing Title

This tip is not unknown but is still rarely used. Most people who sell ebooks with resell rights simply list their item on eBay using the “actual name” of the product for the listing title.

For example, “James Jackson's Giveaway Gold” is listed by many sellers by it’s title. In reality this is an ebook on how to build your email list. If you were looking for a guide on how to build your mailing list would you type in “James Jackson’s Giveaway Gold?“ Not if you have never heard of such an ebook! It should be listed as “Build Create Make Your Mailing Email List”. This would be a wise use of relevant keywords and phrases which will bring in the greatest amount of traffic to that listing. You can find these targeted keywords with a free keyword search tool.

2. Understand What You Are Selling

If you don’t know what you are selling how can you give it a proper listing title? Be sure to read the sales page that it comes with. Often times you can find useful keywords and phrases in the sales page that will help you list it correctly.

3. Check Out Your Competitor’s Listing Titles

Do this before you pick your listing title. As you start writing down possible keywords and phrases to use in your title, cross check them on eBay to see if any other of the same products pull up. Be sure to choose the keywords and phrases that give you the fewest competitors.

4. Use Misspellings To Your Advantage

People’s inability to spell means money for you. For example, a product that has to do with “Google Adsense” can also be written as “Google Ad Sense,” or even Goggle Adsense.”

5. Cross Positioning

A great example of this would be having an ebook on coin collecting but listing it as coin collecting with metal detector. There may be nothing in your ebook on metal detectors but no doubt anyone who pulls up metal detectors will see your ebook on coins and bingo, you just created a niche listing with no competitors.

6. Name Recognition Tie In

This is a great way to pull in brand name recognition traffic even though you aren’t selling the product with the name. An example of this would be if you were selling an ebook on how to create a pay per click search engine. You could list the title as something like “Make A Pay Per Click Search Engine Like Google Adwords.”

Another benefit to using all 6 of these techniques is that often times the resellers won’t find you very easily. Resellers will be looking at other resellers and trying to copy their titles while undercutting their listing price. Because most of them are looking for the actual name of the product, you will be virtually invisible to them.

7. Put Your Ebook On CD

Now that you have positioned yourself on eBay away from the rest, burn your ebooks to CD. Why on a CD? You can increase the price as well as charge shipping and handling. You can easily charge $4.99 for shipping when in fact it costs less than half that to pay for the CD and shipping materials.

There you have it. Now you can be the ebook reseller you have always wanted to be and start pulling in easy cash, the smart way!

Finding Your Niche Market

With the ever increasing competition in the eBay eBook market, sellers are forced to find new, original eBooks with very little competition.

Selling eBooks with no competition is the most ideal scenario you could ever experience as an eBay eBooks seller. Why? Because you set the price!

If there is more than one person selling the same item then the price is constantly being driven down. The original seller lists it for $20; the second seller lists it for $18. Is the original seller likely to get any sales at the price of $20? No, of course not. eBay buyers are constantly looking for bargains and they aren’t going to pay an inflated fee if they know they can get it elsewhere for cheaper. This will force the original seller to drive the price down and eventually it will be at $0.01 or $0.99 like the majority of eBooks on eBay.

Having an original product to sell means you set whatever price you like without the fear of competition – for a while anyway.

Eventually, the inevitable competition and hence price decrease will kill that product on eBay, but don’t worry because you will of maximised profit potential and you can move onto your next niche product and always remain ahead of the competition.

So, where can you find niche products to resell on eBay?

It’s quite simple to find niche products. The first place to look is google. All you have to do is think of a few niche topics and then search key terms into google. For the purposes of this article, we’ll use “trout fishing as our niche topic. You’ll need to search keywords such as “trout fishing eBook resell rights”

That will provide you with an array of trout fishing eBooks. Purchase or download a few of them and then get listing on eBay. Don’t worry if they don’t sell straight away or indeed in the first auction. Simply tweak a few aspects of your auction listing. If it isn’t getting the views then consider changing the auction title, if it’s getting the views but not the sales then consider changing the sales letter. If all that fails then reduce the price and if that still fails then move onto your next niche.

Don’t be afraid of first time failure on eBay. You don’t need to get things right first time. Many people learn best by making mistakes and you can implement what you’ve learned into your next niche selling experience to ensure a more successful business venture.

Even if your first experience is a success, continue to collect more niche products and continue to expand upon your products.

You should also consider buying and selling niche private label products. A private label product is an eBook to which you receive the source code to. In more simple terms you receive the Microsoft word document to the file. This means you can put your name as the author and also include relevant links so you can profit from back-end sales. You then convert the file back to PDF format so that no-one else can edit it. This is just like having your own product to sell and especially if there is no sales competition.

Now that you have learned these techniques, try and implement them into your eBay business ventures and I wish you every success with these techniques.

How to Drive Traffic To Your Website By Your Ebay Listings

Despite eBay's policies, there are still several ways to use eBay to drive traffic to your website, or as I like to call it, mining for traffic. But why would you want to do that?

To begin with, consumers go to eBay to find a bargain. They are looking to pay less. In other words, the average consumer is willing to pay more for an item from your web store than they would for the same item on eBay. Selling an item from your website will net you higher profit more often than not.

Secondly, any item you list on eBay is surrounded by your competition. When a person does a search for your item on eBay, your listing will be buried by the items of hundreds, even thousands of other sellers. What reason does a person have to buy from you rather than the hundreds of other sellers? Regardless of the reason, it's far easier to sell an item to a person that doesn't have dozens of other sellers clamoring for their attention.

Third is the potential for repeat business. A key part of being a retailer is developing long-term relationships with your customers. It's very difficult to develop loyalty among eBay buyers, whereas it's much easier to create repeat business with your web store.

Now that you know why you will want to drive traffic away from eBay, let's talk about the ways to do that.

The easiest method is to create an eBay About Me page. Your About Me page is a great place to talk about your business and build the trust of buyers. But it is also the one place on eBay where you are allowed to link to nearly any kind of website, including your own web store.

Make sure that you have an About Me page, and make sure that you talk about and link to your web store on your About Me page. To help drive people to your About Me page, place links to it in all your eBay listings.

Next, in part two of this series, I'll discuss more methods of mining eBay's traffic.
